Water Condition

As we have moved into summer with some unusually hot and dry spells, the water has warmed considerably. There is plenty of weed growth from the bottom and the patches of lily pad are fully developed. However, the water has remained very clear for the time of year and given the conditions, without suspended algae or surface weed having developed. (July 2026)

Fish stocks

As usual we have suspended stocking over the summer months and the remaining rainbow trout are very reluctant to feed in the warm conditions. However, the resident population of browns remain more active and continue to feed actively and take the anglers’ fly. All browns should be returned unless deep hooked. Rainbow re-stocking will resume at the beginning of September. (July 2026)
